Why Argonaut?
If you’re thinking that we chose the name Argonaut Productions because the founder’s first name is Jason—you aren’t wrong. But it didn’t take long for us to realize that there were plenty of good reasons to call ourselves Argonauts.
Most people are familiar with the story of Jason and the Argonauts and their quest for the Golden Fleece. Jason wanted to become King of his homeland but in order to prove his legitimate claim to the throne, he needed to go on a voyage to retrieve the Golden Fleece. So, he assembled a crew of heroes to help him along the way. They sailed to distant lands and faced many challenges and obstacles before they were able to secure the Golden Fleece and return home.
When we first came up with the idea of calling our agency Argonaut Productions, we thought of ourselves as Jason and the Argonauts. We thought we were off on an epic adventure together. We thought our journey would bring us to the Golden Fleece and earn us fame and glory.
What we came to realize is that we are all the Argonauts and that each client we work with is a Jason. When we help your organization discover your WHY, we are serving as the crew that delivers you to your Golden Fleece and makes sure you return to claim the bigger prize. A Golden Fleece seems like a nice enough thing to shoot for, but the true rewards are found in what the Golden Fleece gets for you. Your organization’s WHY establishes your legitimacy. It proves to your audiences why you deserve their support. Just like the original Golden Fleece did for Jason in Greek mythology.
Did we know how perfect the name was when we chose it? No.
It was only over time, as we did the work that we do for the clients that we’ve helped, that we came to realize who we really are and what we bring to the table when we work on a project.
